1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information You Create or Provide
Depending on the features you use, the App may process:
- Audio recordings made through the App
- Speech-to-text transcripts
- Recording titles and recording categories
- Notes and marked moments that you add
- Translation language selections and translated transcript lines
- Information you provide when contacting us by email
- Apple account information made available through Sign in with Apple, such as an Apple user identifier and, where provided by Apple, your name or email address
Please do not record other people without the permissions or disclosures required by applicable law.
1.2 Device and Technical Information
To provide secure access to the service, the App may create and process:
- An App-generated device identifier
- A device secret and an API session token
- App version, operating system information, device platform, language, locale, and time zone
- Network, diagnostic, crash, and performance information
- Subscription and transaction-related identifiers needed to validate membership
- Manually triggered app events, such as app activation, onboarding interactions, and purchase flow events
- Advertising or analytics identifiers where permitted by your device settings and Apple’s App Tracking Transparency rules
The device identifier, device secret, and session token are stored in the iOS Keychain where possible. They are used to register and authenticate the device with our service and are not intended to identify you by your real name.
1.3 Information from Apple Services
The App uses Apple services for some features:
- Microphone: to record audio when you start a recording.
- Speech Recognition: to create a transcript from an audio recording.
- Apple Translation: to translate transcript content when the required Apple translation capability is available.
- Sign in with Apple: to support Apple account authentication for optional iCloud use.
- iCloud: to synchronize recordings and related metadata when you choose to enable iCloud.
- App Store and StoreKit: to process subscriptions and restore purchases.
Apple may process information under Apple’s own privacy policy and service terms. For more information, see Apple’s Privacy Policy.
2. Audio, Transcripts, and AI Processing
2.1 Audio and transcription
The App attempts to use on-device speech recognition when the selected language and device support it. If on-device recognition is not available, Apple may process the audio through its speech recognition service under Apple’s Privacy Policy.
2.2 What is sent for AI analysis, Ask AI, and translation
When you use an AI feature, the App sends only the text required for that feature to our API service, which forwards it to our AI service provider to generate the response you requested:
- Recording analysis (title, category, overview, action items, and highlights): the transcript text with timestamps and speaker labels, the text of notes you added, marked-moment timestamps, recording duration and source language, a local recording identifier, and calendar event details such as the event title when you attach them.
- Ask AI: your question, plus the specific transcript excerpts, timestamps, speaker labels, recording titles, and local recording identifiers that the App selects to answer it.
- Translation: the transcript line text to be translated, plus the source and target language.
We never send the following to the AI service provider:
- Your original audio files. Audio stays in the App or in your iCloud container and is not uploaded for AI processing.
- Your device identifier, device secret, or session token.
- Your Apple account identifier, name, or email address.
- Payment information, App Store receipts, or subscription details.
2.3 What happens to text after it is sent
Our API service does not store AI request text or AI results in our database. The text is forwarded to our AI service provider, DeepSeek, which processes it to generate the response under its own terms.
- DeepSeek’s published Privacy Policy states that inputs may be used, with encryption and de-identification, to provide, maintain, and improve its services and to train and improve its models, and that it processes and stores personal data in the People’s Republic of China.
- DeepSeek does not publish a fixed retention period for API request content and does not provide a per-request deletion guarantee.
Because the provider operates independently, we cannot promise that text sent to it is deleted at a specific time or that it will never be used to improve the provider’s models. What we control, we state clearly: we send only the text needed for the feature you requested, we never include audio, account identifiers, or payment data, and we do not use your recordings, transcripts, or notes to train our own AI models or sell your content.
2.4 Your control over AI processing
AI features run only when you use them. If you do not want transcript text, notes, or questions processed by the AI service provider, do not use recording analysis, Ask AI, or translation. Recording, playback, and on-device transcription continue to work without them on supported devices.
You can contact us to ask what is processed or to request deletion of information we hold. Where applicable law gives you the right to have content deleted by the AI provider, we will forward the request to DeepSeek and respond to you after the provider responds. We cannot delete provider-held content directly, and deletion cannot be confirmed before the provider responds.
AI-generated results may be inaccurate or incomplete. Review transcripts, translations, summaries, action items, and highlights before relying on them.
3. Where Your Data Is Stored
3.1 On Your Device
Recording metadata, transcripts, notes, marks, summaries, action items, highlights, and other recording information are stored in the App’s local storage. Audio recordings are stored in the App’s private storage.
If you turn off Keep Original Audio, the App may delete the original audio after processing is complete while keeping the recording’s text and generated results.
3.2 iCloud
If you sign in with Apple and enable Sync Recordings with iCloud, the App stores its recording data in its own iCloud Documents container. This may include:
- Recording metadata and titles
- Audio recordings
- Transcripts and translated transcript content
- Notes, marked moments, summaries, action items, and highlights
The purpose of this synchronization is to make your Noted recordings and related data available on your Apple devices that use the same Apple/iCloud account. The App does not use this feature to access your other apps’ iCloud data or your entire iCloud account.
To enable iCloud synchronization, open iPhone Settings > Apple Account > iCloud > iCloud Drive and turn on iCloud Drive. Return to the App, sign in with Apple if requested, then open Settings > Apple & iCloud and enable Sync Recordings with iCloud. The exact labels may vary slightly by iOS language or version.
If you disable iCloud synchronization, new changes will no longer be synchronized by the App. Data already stored in iCloud may remain subject to Apple’s synchronization and deletion behavior.
If iCloud is unavailable, your recording remains saved on the iPhone and the App may retry synchronization later. iCloud synchronization depends on your Apple account, iCloud Drive setting, network connection, Apple service availability, and available iCloud storage.
3.3 Our API and Service Providers
Our API service processes device authentication information, subscription status, AI analysis and translation requests, and technical logs to provide and protect the service. AI request text is forwarded to our AI service provider and is not stored in our database. We use service providers as necessary for hosting, AI processing, payment validation, security, diagnostics, and customer support.
We do not sell your audio recordings or transcript content. We do not collect or store your full payment card number; payments are handled by Apple through the App Store.
4. How We Use Information
We may use information to:
- Record, transcribe, translate, analyze, store, export, and display your content
- Provide summaries, action items, highlights, and other requested AI results
- Authenticate devices and protect API access
- Provide, validate, restore, and manage subscriptions
- Synchronize content through iCloud when you enable it
- Respond to support requests
- Detect abuse, troubleshoot failures, and improve reliability
- Understand usage, performance, and crash behavior
- Measure advertising performance and attribution where permitted by your choices and applicable platform rules
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our agreements
5. Analytics and Meta SDK
5.1 App Tracking Transparency (ATT)
The App uses Apple’s AppTrackingTransparency framework to request your permission before enabling tracking-related use of data for advertising performance measurement and attribution through third-party services such as the Meta/Facebook SDK. The App waits for your ATT choice before initializing Meta’s advertising attribution features.
If you allow tracking, Meta may process advertising or analytics identifiers together with limited device, app, and usage information for the purposes described above. The App may also send manually triggered app events, such as app activation, onboarding interactions, and subscription events. Subscription events may include product and transaction identifiers and a purchase amount when available.
If you deny tracking, the App does not enable advertiser ID collection or ATT-based tracking for those purposes. The App’s core recording, transcription, translation, analysis, and subscription features remain available, although the App may still send limited non-advertising operational events through the Meta SDK. We do not use the Meta SDK to read or send the contents of your audio recordings or transcripts for advertising.
You can allow, deny, or later change this permission in Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking on your device. ATT permission is separate from microphone, speech recognition, notification, and other iOS permissions.
5.2 Meta/Facebook SDK
The App uses the Meta/Facebook SDK with automatic app-event logging disabled. Events are sent manually by the App when relevant product or subscription actions occur. Depending on your device settings, permissions, and applicable platform controls, Meta may process device, app, and usage information under its own policies. For more information, see Meta’s Privacy Policy.
You can manage available tracking and privacy permissions through iOS settings.
6. Notifications
The App uses local or remote iOS system notifications to tell you that recording processing has finished, a subscription or account event requires attention, or an App-related operation has completed.
For remote notifications, the App processes an Apple Push Notification service (APNs) device token together with limited device and App information, such as device identifier, App version, operating system version, language, and notification authorization status. This information is used to register the device, deliver notifications, prevent abuse, and troubleshoot delivery. We do not place the full contents of your recordings or transcripts in notification messages by default.
You can allow, deny, or later change notification permission in iOS Settings. Apple may process notification delivery information under Apple’s Privacy Policy. Local reminders created in Apple Reminders are controlled by Apple’s Reminders service and do not require an APNs device token.
7. Subscriptions and Pricing
The App currently offers the following plans:
- Weekly Pro: US$4.99 per week
- Monthly Pro: US$12.99 per month
Prices may change in the future and may vary by country, region, taxes, promotions, or App Store pricing rules. The price shown by Apple at the time of purchase controls the transaction.
Subscriptions are processed by Apple. We receive only the subscription and transaction information needed to confirm membership and provide paid features. You can manage or cancel a subscription in your Apple ID subscription settings.
8. Data Retention
Local data remains on your device until you delete it, remove the App, or the App’s storage is otherwise cleared. iCloud data is retained according to your iCloud account, synchronization, and deletion actions.
Our servers do not retain the text you send for AI analysis, Ask AI, or translation, or the results returned for those requests. Server-side technical logs used for security and operations, such as request time, endpoint, response status, and IP address, do not include transcript text, notes, questions, or AI results.
Custom app event records that the App reports for product analytics do not include recordings, transcripts, notes, marks, or AI content, and are deleted automatically after 180 days.
Text that has already been forwarded to DeepSeek is handled under DeepSeek’s own policy, which does not publish a fixed retention period. Deleting your Noted account or your recordings deletes data we control; it does not by itself delete content already processed by DeepSeek.
9. Your Choices and Rights
Subject to applicable law, you may:
- Deny or later change microphone and speech recognition permissions in iOS Settings
- Allow, deny, or later change App Tracking Transparency permission in iOS Settings
- Choose whether to enable iCloud synchronization
- Turn on iCloud Drive in iPhone Settings before enabling the App’s iCloud synchronization
- Choose whether to keep original audio after processing
- Sign out of or disconnect Apple account access from the App where supported
- Manage or cancel App Store subscriptions through Apple
- Choose whether to use AI analysis, Ask AI, or translation — the only features that send text to the AI service provider
- Contact us to ask questions about personal information processed by our services or to request deletion of AI-processed content
- Third-party AI processing is optional. You can decline before recording and choose to consent later when you retry processing. You can turn off Settings → AI & Transcript → Allow Third-Party AI Processing to stop new requests to DeepSeek. Turning off this setting will not automatically delete content previously sent to DeepSeek. You can also swipe left on a recording in the Home screen’s recording list or the All Recordings list, then confirm its deletion. To make a request concerning personal data previously sent to DeepSeek, contact nexara2023@outlook.com. We will review your request, contact DeepSeek for assistance, and inform you of its response or the outcome.
Some features may not work when the required permission, network connection, Apple service, or subscription is unavailable.
10. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information, including iOS Keychain storage for device credentials, encrypted network connections where supported, access controls, and limited service access. No method of storage or transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
11. Children’s Privacy
The App is not directed to children under the minimum age required by applicable law. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children in violation of applicable law. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact us.
12. Third-Party Services
The App relies on Apple, DeepSeek (our AI text-processing provider), Meta/Facebook, hosting providers, payment services, email applications, and other third parties. Their processing is governed by their own privacy policies and terms. See DeepSeek’s Privacy Policy, Apple’s Privacy Policy, and Meta’s Privacy Policy for the policies of those providers.
As described in Section 2, we limit what is sent to DeepSeek to the text needed for the AI feature you requested, and we do not send audio, account identifiers, or payment data. We do not sell your recordings, transcripts, notes, or AI results.
DeepSeek AI Processing
Before you start your first recording, if you have not yet consented to third-party AI processing, the App will explain this processing and ask for your consent. After you consent, the App sends information through our servers to DeepSeek to generate summaries, highlights, and action items. Depending on the recording, this information may include transcript text, speaker labels, notes you add, marked timestamps, the recording title, language and duration, and related recording, transcript-line, and note identifiers.
When you use Ask AI, your question and content from recordings within the requested scope are sent to our servers. Your question, relevant transcript excerpts, recording titles, speaker labels, timestamps, and related recording information are sent through our servers to DeepSeek. Translation uses Apple’s system translation when available. On iOS versions earlier than 18, or when Apple’s system translation is unavailable, text to be translated and language information are sent through our servers to DeepSeek if you choose to continue with translation.
We do not send raw audio recordings, App account or device identifiers, or your App authentication token to DeepSeek. If you do not consent, we will not send this content to DeepSeek or use third-party AI processing. You may choose to consent later. For information about DeepSeek’s data practices, see its Privacy Policy and Open Platform Terms of Service.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when the App, services, legal requirements, or data practices change. The updated version will show a new “Last updated” date. Your continued use of the App after an update means that you acknowledge the revised policy.
